Book Review: Naturally Thin

If you've been tracking with this blog, you may have seen me rave about Bethenny Frankel.

I LOVE, LOVE her.

I recently read Naturally Thin and learned quite a bit.

Here is my book review on A Place of Yes

I love all her Skinnygirl products and she is definitely one of my favorite Housewife.

Back to the book...

This was a WONDERFUL read. I really learned a lot. I definitely need to change my thoughts about the way I view food.

Some of my favorite advice was:

1. Always sit down to eat.

2. Eat slowly and enjoy your food.

3. Offer some of your food to others.

4. When eating out, have the server prepackage half your meal. Portion size at restaurants are TOO big.

Its definitely a different type of diet book. She does give you a two week snapshot of what she eats to show you more visually what she talks about in her book. 

She doesn't endorse a certain diet, and is transparent about her unhealthy habits, but views eating healthy as a lifestyle. This is what I most appreciate.

I obviously won't eat like her as she is busy running a corporation, while I busy myself with running miles. 

I NEED more food.

I've learned to accept that and not be upset with not fitting the mold of a "Skinnygirl" because I have to consume more calories for keeping my energy up.

Thats some of the best advice that I learned is to retrain my brain. Bethenny really focuses on that in this book. I know I have unhealthy thoughts about food.

Spend too much time calorie counting, which she is against, and never truly enjoy my meals.

I have definitely made a change, but I could use some accountability.

I give this book 5 out of 5 hearts!!

A Place of Yes book review

If you don't know I am obsessed with everything Bethenny Frankel. I think she is adorable and tells it like it is. I love her frankness :) and her drive to accomplish it all. I have many of her Skinnygirl products (I'll probably do a review of them one of these days)

Any how I recently read her book A Place Of Yes

It was actually a really great read. Bethenny definitely has some great points in her story. Her advice is very sound.

Get rid of all of your noise (expectations and baggage).

I really think this is crucial for being successful. You can't achieve anything by believing that you don't have to change or get rid of things from your past. It is holding onto all of our baggage that makes it difficult to sort through life. She has a great story and although I didn't identify with all of it, she makes you feel accepted and not rejected. I love that she places so much value on being a mother and a wife. I know that she loves business, but she really really values her private life. I admire her, I must say. She really has that American dream story of going after what you want and being successful at it. 

Her top 10 rules are really common sense, advice that you have been given before, but never follow. I remember giving advice to a friend of mine about not dragging along a guy, just Own it that you don't like him and move on (own it is one of her rules). She didn't listen and the poor guy got bruised along the way.

Her points about noise are really true. You have to identify your idea of 'normal' and not try to make everyone like you. Its important to have an identity, but compromise (and communication) is the base of any friendship.

I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. I really really enjoyed it!!!

Bethenny Frankel

I love her! I've watched her on Real Housewives of NY and on Bethanny Ever After. I adore her bluntness and personality. She strives to do her best and is so successful.

I recently came into contact with her Skinnygirl cosmetic line. Her Bright Red and Shimmer Lip gloss are my favorite.

I can't wait to use her Skinnygirl Daily and workout video.

She looks amazing!!

(I also had a very very small sip of her Skinnygirl Pina Colada...it was delicious)
