BUSY BUSY BUSY

Yowzers!! Its been a crazy few weeks. Even though I'm only back to work parttime, I feel like I have had NO TIME. Poor blog, its been on the back of my mind, but I just havent had quality time to get it all done.

Being back at work has really been fun. I honestly never thought that I'd feel that way. I know that it was the right time because Lilly is doing so well and so am I. We are so lucky to have had my sister move in with us so that we have someone to watch Lilly.

And I missed teaching.

It so weird to type that. I remember last January fighting to not go back to work. Not because I didn't want to work, but because raising Lilly was so imporatnat to me. And now I have the best of both worlds. Lilly is learning to be independent as well as myself.

I think we have both grown a lot.

It was important for me to go back to teaching this year because of the Teacher Credential Clearing Process in California. It's called BTSA and it can be a pain. I like it, especially all the forms (I was definitely meant to be a teacher), but there is a lot of outside commitment athat makes it hard when you are trying to find child care.

If you live in California and are a teacher you can skip this next little paragraph :)

California requires its teachers to have a Clear Credential. In order to do this you must be a teacher and go through BTSA (Beginning Teacher Support Assessment). BTSA requires two years where you meet with a veteran teacher, attend professional development workshops and use case studies to strengthen a weakness in your teaching. If it sounds like a lot of paperwork, IT IS!!

But anyway its been a lot of fun, my quirkiness and loud voice is back and it feels good to to be back teaching even if its just a few days a week.

How was going back to work? Did you have any reservations?

It's Back To School We Go!!

This week begins the first official week back to school. Last week I worked, it was meetings and trainings all day. I'm so proud to tell you that Lil Miss did GREAT!! We are so very lucky to have my sister watching her.

I get to teach Transitional Kindergarten on a part time basis. I will be working Monday, Tuesday, and every other Wednesday. WOW!! This week has snuck up on me. I feel so unprepared, but so confident. I know that this will be such a great opportunity for me to clear my credential, to learn more, and to do what I love. It's hard for me to leave Lilly, but this is such a sweet deal. I am able to play and hang out with her the majority of the week still.

I struggled for so long with going back. I cried and pouted and refused to go back. But as it turns out it is a lot easier than I anticipated. I was fortunate enough to have over a year with Lil. I also took on a small position at a nearby gym teaching which allowed me to be comfortable with leaving Lil for longer than an hour. Now that she knows how to soothe herself to sleep, it makes it easy for others to put her to sleep.

I am SOOO excited! Have I mentioned that yet?! It's a battle wanting to be excited by sad to leave her. I try to block it. And for so long, I just didn't understand how other moms did it. I refused to go back to work because I worried that one day she would be disappointed that I didn't spend more time with her.

But this IS what is best. I am able to clear my credential, have purpose (outside of being her mom), and its helping to get rid of all those darn school loans I have.

Well...Happy First Month of School!!

Did you struggle with going back to work? What helped you with the transition?

What's For Dinner Week 4

Howdy Howdy!!

Hope you all had a great 4th of July!! I must say that BBQ is where it is at! I love BBQ!

This past week, meal planning didn't go well. I planned, but we were gone for the week and we didn't make most of the planned meals.

So I moved some of them to this week.

I wanted to give you a meal planning tip. It makes life so much easier to have a prep day. This includes cooking extra chicken, more rice, cutting veggies, grating cheese. I usually do this on Mondays after I have been to the store. You wouldn't believe how much time it saves me. Well let me tell you: LOADS!!

If you do one thing different this week. Try creating a food prep day!! It's life changing!

Monday: Pesto Grilled Chicken and Grilled Veggies
Tuesday: Portabella Mushroom Burgers
Wednesday: Salmon and Salad
Thursday: Pizza
Friday: Wraps
Saturday and Sunday: Vacation!!

I won't be posting a link up next week because we will be in Tahoe. I will have some of my favorite pinned ideas though!!

Have a lovely week!!
